Palm oil production from oil plam, the oil palm tree is the most efficient oil crop in terms of land use. It has the highest yield compared to other oil crops per hectare of land. It also requires the lowest amount of fertilizer per planted hectare. When the oil palm trees are three to four years old the fruits are harvested monthly.

Palm oil is an important and versatile vegetable oil which is used as a raw material for both food and non-food industries.

Palm can be cultivated only in tropical areas of Asia, Africa and South America. Global demand for edible vegetable oils has grown strongly in recent decades and palm oil production has expanded rapidly to meet that demand

About one quarter of palm oil production worldwide is used domestically, three quarters is exported. Asia, the European Union and Africa are the main importers of palm oil
