On August 14, 2026, Glory Oiltech (Henan Glory) signed an order with a UK-based client for one palm nut cracker machine for the client's palm kernel oil processing plant in Ogun State, Nigeria. The purchase is a focused upgrade to the plant's kernel preparation stage: the machine cracks dried palm nuts, while the subsequent separation of kernels from shells remains a separate process step.

A Focused Upgrade to the Kernel Preparation Stage

The client entered the oil-processing industry from outside the sector. After a long career in the financial sector, the client invested in a palm kernel oil plant in Ogun State and is now working toward a reliable and efficient production line.

From the first discussion, the priority was clear. The plant needed dependable cracking performance that could support stable kernel recovery and the downstream shell-separation process. Rather than starting with a complete automated line, the client chose to begin with one palm kernel cracker and assess its performance under actual site conditions.

After an initial exchange with our sales manager, the client arranged a visit to Glory Oiltech's Nigeria branch in Ogun State. Since kernel-to-shell separation was the key concern, our team used running videos to demonstrate the cracking and dry separation process, showing how the hard shells are broken and how the kernels are subsequently separated from the shell material.

The client also visited our overseas warehouse in Nigeria and saw a substantial stock of shelling machines available locally. The combination of a process demonstration, on-site equipment availability, and local support helped the client move forward with the order.

What the Order Covers

The order covers one palm nut cracker machine for the kernel preparation section of the Nigerian plant. Its role is to crack dried palm nuts and produce a mixture of kernels and shells for the next separation stage.

How the Palm Kernel Cracker Works in the Process

The machine uses a high-speed centrifugal impact principle. Dried palm nuts are accelerated inside the cracking chamber and broken by impact between the rotor beat bars and the toothed arc liners. This breaks the hard outer shells and frees the kernels, creating a mixed material that can then move to the shell-separation stage.

The rotor has only a few replaceable wear parts, keeping the machine's structure simple and robust for continuous operation. Two operating factors are particularly relevant to the cracking result:

  • Adjustable clearance. The gap between the rotor and the arc liners can be set according to palm nut size, helping match the impact force to the material. This supports a high cracking rate while limiting unnecessary kernel breakage.

  • Feed condition control. For best cracking performance, the palm nuts should be dried and cooled before entering the machine. The specified feed conditions are shell moisture below about 12.5% and kernel moisture below about 9%. Proper preparation helps maintain a stable cracking rate of approximately 95%.

A Single Cracker Can Lead to a Dry Shell Separation Line

Cracking and shell separation are connected, but they are not the same operation. The palm kernel cracker breaks the palm nut shell; a palm kernel shell separator and the related separation equipment are responsible for separating the kernels from the shells. At the client's plant, this downstream step is currently handled through conventional methods, typically screening or wet separation.

If the client later decides to increase throughput and improve separation precision, Glory Oiltech can expand the setup into a complete dry palm kernel shell separation system. The system can be built around a magnetic separator, a kernel grading machine, a nut cracker, a wind separation column, and a cyclone separator. The cracker supplied in this order can serve as the cracking unit within the expanded arrangement.

In a complete system, the overall kernel-to-shell separation can reach up to 99%, with kernel-in-shell and shell-in-kernel both kept to low levels. The recovered shells can also be used as biomass fuel. This gives the client a staged investment path: validate the single machine first, then add the wider separation system when the site results and production requirements justify the upgrade.

Why the Client Chose Glory Oiltech

A Process Demonstration Before Purchase

The client's main concern was the result of the cracking and separation process. Running-video demonstrations gave the buyer a practical view of how the material moves through the process before making a purchasing decision.

Local Equipment Availability

During the visit to the Nigeria branch, the client inspected the overseas warehouse in Ogun State and saw a substantial stock of shelling machines available on site. Local availability helped address concerns about equipment readiness close to the project.

A Staged Investment Plan

Starting with one machine allows the client to assess cracking performance at the plant before committing to a complete automated system. The existing cracker is intended to form part of the later separation arrangement, rather than being treated as a temporary purchase that must automatically be replaced.

Support Near the Project Site

With a branch and overseas warehouse in Ogun State, Glory Oiltech can provide equipment, spare parts, and technical support close to the client's operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q

What Information Should I Prepare Before Requesting a Palm Kernel Cracker Recommendation?

A

Before requesting a recommendation, prepare your target processing capacity, the typical size and condition of your palm nuts, their moisture level, and a brief description of your existing cracking and shell-separation arrangement. These details help the supplier assess the cracker in the context of the whole process, rather than selecting a machine by capacity alone.

Q

How Can I Evaluate a Palm Nut Cracker Before Purchase?

A

Ask the supplier to demonstrate or test the machine similar to the material processed at your plant. During the assessment, check whether the nuts are cracked consistently, whether the kernels suffer excessive breakage, and whether the resulting kernel-shell mixture can be handled by your downstream separation equipment. Before the test, agree on the feed material, operating conditions, sampling method, and acceptance criteria so that the result can be judged against your actual production needs.

Q

When Should a Palm Kernel Plant Consider Moving to Dry Separation?

A

A plant may consider reviewing a dry separation option when its current screening or wet separation method cannot meet the required throughput or separation precision, or when reducing process-water use is an operational priority. Before making the change, compare the current separation results, identify how much shell remains with the kernels and how many kernels are lost with the shells, and check whether the site layout and investment plan can accommodate the required equipment. The decision should be based on the plant's actual operating limits, not on automation alone.
